designer & journalist

about me

Ever since I can remember, I've loved words.

I love their mobility, how we can use them to form sentences and stories, and bring things to life with just lines on a page. That's what drew me to journalism – the ability to spend my time painting with words.

Hi, I'm Audrey. I'm interested in telling human stories through journalism and design.

I currently study journalism, international studies and design at Northwestern University.

But what I've found is how we present our words can be just as impactful as what we say.

I learned quickly that words are not the only way to tell a story. How we present them matters, too. This pushed me into the space of visual storytelling, where I was introduced to data and design.

I now try to tell stories in innovative ways

...whether that be with visuals, news mediums, data visualizations or through the design process. But I never allow these things to take over the humanity within the piece – rather, they should serve it.

I think that the most powerful stories are told with awareness, intention and empathy. I also love to put ideas into action – and to find creative ways to do it.
